WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT BELT CLIPS

Q: FOMI? EZ Adjust? DCC MONOBLOCK? DCC HLR4 Clip? Claw?

I've never heard of some of these belt clip types before. What is the difference?

A: For most everyday carry most people will be content with FOMI belt clips.

We use standard closed MM WING loops for outside the waistband clips for our OWB holsters. Both fit any 1.5" or 1.75" Inch belts. For those seeking the most out of their holster we  offer a variety of different clip options both on website and by request:

  • FOMI clip is wider and a provides more spring tension to better secure the holster. While more secure than standard clips you cannot adjust the ride height of the clip like our standard tuckable IWB clip. You can adjust the cant/angle of the holster by changing the FOMI clip's position.

  • EZ ADJUST clip designs are usually for IWB appendix carry. The use of two standard tuckable IWB clips better secures the holster. This makes the holster very secure and significantly reduces printing on clothing. Just make sure its in the right spot, there is no subtle way to adjust a dual clip holster when its inside your waistband. Holster angle and ride height can be changed by adjust one or both of the belt clips to your desired position.

  • PADDLE clips are OWB clips that are wide and concave to fit around the body. This clip goes over the waistband and is simple to put on and take off compared to the standard closed loop design. Great if you use particularly thick belts.

  • SPEEDEASE are OWB clips that feature a non-belt weave attachment. As the name implies, it is easy to take on and off. Fits any 1.5" inch belt. 1.75" are available upon request.

  • We also can make holsters with QLS accommodations for those using the Safariland® Quick Locking System. we do not include the paddle. The QLS allows for quick transfer of gear between attachment points such as a belt loop, tactical leg shroud or other stable platform.

  • CONCEALMENT CLAW are not clips but an added piece that provides more tension to the waistband to reduce printing on clothing.

  • Don't see an option that you need? send us a message or email and we'll work out the details with you!

Installation Guide

Follow these steps to assemble or adjust the hardware. You will need a standard Phillips-head screwdriver.

Step 1: Install the Belt Clip

The belt clip is the primary mounting point for securing the holster to your waistband.

  • Placement: Align the holes of the belt clip with the pre-drilled holes on the holster.

  • Insert Posts: From the inside of the holster, insert the threaded metal binding posts through the holes.

  • Spacing: Position a rubber spacer (provided in the hardware kit) between the holster body and the belt clip. This spacer provides the necessary tension for the screws and allows for slight adjustments

  • Secure Screws: Place the belt clip over the holes on the outside. Thread the mounting screws into the posts and tighten them firmly with a screwdriver.

Step 2: Install the Concealment Claw

The claw is designed to push against your belt, rotating the firearm's grip into your body to minimize "printing".

  • Placement: The claw attaches to the two holes located near the bottom of the holster, typically along the trigger guard area.

  • Spacing: Position a rubber spacer (often provided in the hardware kit) between the holster body and the claw. This spacer provides the necessary tension for the screws and allows for slight adjustments.

  • Secure: Insert the longer screws through the claw and spacer, then tighten them into the threaded posts on the back side of the holster.

Step 3: Final Checks and Maintenance

  • Hardware Security: After installation, check that all screws are snug. The rubber spacers should be slightly compressed to ensure the belt clip and claw remain stable during use.

  • Thread Maintenance: For long-term use, applying a small amount of removable thread-locking compound to the screw threads can help prevent the hardware from loosening due to daily movement.

  • Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the hardware to ensure that no components have become loose or damaged over time.

Adjusting or swapping rubber retention spacers

Also called grommets or washers) is a straightforward way to customize the "grip" your holster has on your firearm.

Preparation

  • Safety First: Ensure your firearm is completely unloaded and clear of any ammunition before starting.

  • Gather Tools: Most holsters use a Phillips head screwdriver or a specific Allen wrench.

  • Work Surface: Use a clean, flat surface to prevent losing small screws or washers.

Step 1: Identify Retention Points

Locate the retention screws on your holster. They are most commonly found near the trigger guard area or along the slide/barrel channel.

Step 2: Remove Hardware

If you are swapping spacers, unscrew the retention screws completely.

  • Hold the threaded post on the back of the holster with your thumb to keep it from spinning as you loosen the screw.Gently separate the holster halves to remove the old rubber spacers.Thicker spacers: Provide more "squish," allowing for a wider range of manual adjustment.Thinner spacers: Offer a more rigid, "fixed" retention feel.

  • Pro Tip: If your spacers have a larger and smaller hole side, the larger hole typically faces down toward the holster body to seat against the post.Insert the threaded posts through the back of the holster shell.

  • Slide the new rubber spacers over the posts.

  • Place the top shell over the spacers and align the holes.Insert the screws and hand-tighten until they catch the threads.

  • Avoid power tools, as they can easily strip the threads or crack the Kydex.

  • 1/4 turn increments until you reach your desired tension.

  • Increase Retention: Turn clockwise to compress the rubber.

  • Decrease Retention: Turn counter-clockwise to allow the rubber to expand.

  • The "Click" Test: You should feel a distinct "click" when the firearm is fully seated, and it should remain secure even if the holster is briefly inverted (with an empty gun).

  • Use removable blue thread locker to the screws to prevent them from backing out during daily use.
