To switch the rail keys on your Streamlight TLR-7 sub
You will need the multi-tool provided with the light or a small flat-head screwdriver. Changing the key allows the light to seat properly in the rail notch of your specific firearm.
1. Initial Preparation
-
Unload the firearm: Ensure the magazine is removed and the chamber is empty before starting.
-
Remove from rail: Loosen the rail clamp tension bolt on the side of the light to detach it from the firearm.
2. Remove the Current Key
-
Fully tighten the bolt: Tighten the rail clamp tension bolt completely to expose the e-clip on the opposite side.
-
Pop the e-clip: Use the "e-clip" side of your multi-tool to push the open end of the e-clip off the bolt.
-
Remove the bolt: Completely unscrew and remove the tension bolt. Keep the spring attached to the bolt.
-
Slide the key out: Remove the movable jaw (the side plate) and slide the current key out of its slot.

3. Install the New MIE Productions Custom Key
-
Insert the key: Place the new key into the slot between the movable and fixed portions of the clamp.
-
Reassemble the bolt: Pass the tension bolt through the fixed side, the new key, and into the movable side.
-
Secure the e-clip: Tighten the bolt fully, then use the "insert" side of the multi-tool to snap the e-clip back into the groove on the bolt.
